Esther Ifeoma JIMOH is the Principal Counsel of Estelle Attorneys & Legal Consult and her legal experience spans different areas of law including but not limited to corporate & commercial law, immigration law, property law, aviation law, human rights law, criminal law, family law, labour law and arbitration. Esther holds an LL.B Degree from the Lagos State University, obtained in 1999 and she was called to the Nigerian Bar in January 2001. She also holds an SEMP LL.M in International Business Law from the Metropolitan School of Business & Management, UK, obtained in 2013. Esther did her mandatory Law School Court and Chamber Attachment in the courtroom of Justice Lufadeju (Rtd.) of the Lagos High Court and the law firm of Ukpong & Omotosho, now known as CLP. And prior to her NYSC posting, she worked very briefly with the law firm then known as Laniyan, Akintunde & Ibrahim in Lagos.
For her NYSC, Esther served in the then Texaco Nigeria PLC in the Company Secretary, Public & Government Affairs’ Department from 2001 to 2002, and upon completion of her service, she was employed by the company as a Corporate Affairs Officer in the same department from 2002 to 2003. From 2003 to 2007, Esther worked in the then Chevron Oil Nigeria PLC as the West Africa Administrative Assistant to the Chevron Downstream West Africa Vice President and from 2007 to 2009, as the Chevron Downstream Marketing SOx, Execution & Compliance Coordinator for West Africa. From 2009 to 2012, she worked as an Attorney in MRS Oil Nigeria PLC, acting briefly as its Chief Counsel at the beginning, before resigning to go into private practice. Esther then worked as an Associate with the firm of Philips O. Njeteneh & Co from 2013 to 2015; as Head of Commercial Law Department in the firm of Usman & Elema SAN (Barristers & Solicitors) from 2015 to 2017 and lastly as Head of Chambers in the same firm from 2017 to 2022, following which she resigned to establish her own practice.
Esther is a committed member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch, an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK and Nigeria (CIARB). As a member of the NBA, she’s also an active member of the Section on Business Law (SBL); the Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL); the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Ikeja branch where she heads its Prison Watch Committee; the African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA) Nigeria, the NBA Lagos In-house & Government Counsel’s Forum; the Surulere Lawyers’ Forum (SLF) where she served as a member of its 2021 Annual Dinner Planning Committee; the National Association of Catholic Lawyers (NACL), Lagos Archdiocese, where she is a member of its Pro-bono Group and was a member of its 2023 Conference Planning Committee, chairing the Logistics Sub-Committee; the Police Duty Solicitors Scheme (PDSS) Network and the Otu Oka Iwu Law Society.
Esther has served the Bar as an active member of the Lagos Branch’s Ethics, Compliance & Dispute Resolution Committee; the Human Rights Committee and the 2023 Law Week Planning Committee where she was the Treasurer of its Budget & Finance Sub-Committee, before being elected as the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Lagos Branch for year 2023 – 2025.
