Elo Adhekpukoli is a Senior Associate and Team Lead in the Energy and Capital Markets Practice Groups at SimmonsCooper Partners (SCP). Elo’s legal practice focuses on energy, capital markets, project finance, competition law and dispute resolution. Elo is an alumnus of the University of Lagos where he obtained his LLB degree in 2010 and LLM degree in 2015. Elo was called to the Nigerian Bar in January 2012. Elo participated in the course “Natural Resource for Sustainable Development: The Fundamentals of Oil, Gas and Mining Governance 2016” offered by the SDG Academy in collaboration with the Natural Resource Governance Institute, the Columbia Centre on Sustainable Investment and the World Bank. Elo has also participated in arbitration trainings on energy and infrastructure projects in Africa. 

Elo is a member of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre (LACIAC), member Legal and Fiscal Study Group of the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA), a Peer Reviewer for the Journal of Power and Energy Engineering (JPEE) a multidisciplinary journal of international repute published by Scientific Research Publishing Incorporated.

Elo loves writing, plays Chess and Football. Elo is an avid student of how business and politics intersect around the world. He has authored a book, “Energy Security in Nigeria’s Gas Sector” [2015]. Elo has several articles published in international academic journals on energy related subjects including “The democratization of electricity in Nigeria” in The Electricity Journal, [2018] Vol. 31 Issue 2, pages 1 – 6 published by Elsevier, and “Strengthening Governance in Nigeria’s Petroleum Industry” in The International Energy Law Review page [2016] 258 published by Sweet and Maxwell.

Elo also serves the NBA Lagos Branch in various capacities as a member of the Law Reform Committee, Membership and Data Management Committee and Editorial Advisory Board. Elo was elected as Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch in June 2021 for a two-year term.
